Summary : This position is responsible for servicing and repairing industrial mobile equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Other duties may be assigned:

   Coordinate with job site manager to configure pipe system layout.

   Order proper pipes and other materials.

   Select supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders.

   Assemble materials at job site.

   Select type and size of pipe.

   Cut, thread, and hammer pipes according to pipe system specs.

   Use saws and cutting torches to craft proper pipe sizes.

   Turn off steam, water, or gas from pipe section.

   Secure pipes to walls and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.

   Secure pipes to radiators or tanks.

   Repair and maintain pipe systems and components.

   Resolve problems such as obstructions or holes.

   Dip nonferrous piping materials in molten tin and lead to prevent erosion, or galvanic and electrolytic action.

   Remove water from flooded manholes or basements.

   Repair cracks and leaks.

   Bends, cuts, and threads pipe, cuts openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes, and seals pipe joints with sealing compound.

   Works with gas and water piping

   Repairs and replaces large control valves, PRV's/VFD/s, 250# steam.

   Cuts out and joins parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings.

   Operates welding machine to repair or join metal parts.

   Furnishes Industrial Maintenance Repairer with materials, tools, and supplies.

   Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.

Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

   Education and/or Experience : Educational background or certificate from college or technical school, seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Apprenticeship required, journeyman level.

   Communication Skills : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
